About I'm Dating A Psychopath…
This isn't meant to be a negative criticism, because I really enjoy this webtoon. The whole suspense and mystery is engaging, and I love the more realistic approach the artstyle has. I feel like there's small details everywhere, and we need to pay close attention to all the chapters to connect the dots. It's a good webtoon.
However, something that confuses me sometimes, is the way the majority of the readers seem to genuinely root for a romantic happy ending between the protagonist, Finn and Isaac, and how the romance always seems to be a priority, sometimes even above the thriller.
Yes, the whole point of this webtoon is about their relationship (that's literally in the title), but for me, it never stuck me as something I should root for, or something I should see as the romantic. Since the first chapters they got together, I'd always be suspicious of both of them, wondering if either one of them (or maybe both even) would be using the relationship as a way to get something, rather than something born out of true love. Also, I think from the last 15 chapters onwards, it was clearly shown they're destructive for each other, and have a lot of issues to solve before having a genuine relationship with each other, or anyone, for that matter.
But what made me post this was after the last free to read chapter, released yesterday, where one of them takes a decision that's a bit hard to comprehend, and could mean they chose an antagonistic path or is involved with it (I said could mean, there's nothing certain). And yet, pretty much everyone refuses to acknowledge one of them could just not be a good person. Everyone is just focused on how they're going to save each other, fix each other and live happily ever after.
To be honest, this kind of story having a villain protagonist (either of them could do), and ending in a bittersweet or downer way would be completely reasonable and not out of place, but now I'm doubting if I should have this point of view or expect something different.
After this, I'm wondering, am I losing any detail I should've paid more attention to? There's any reason I should believe they're so perfect for each other and expect a happy ending? Or anything I rambled about here makes a bit of sense for any of you? If you read all of this, thank you very much, and feel free to share your honest opinions, even if they're different of mine. I'm always down to see things by another perspective. And don't forget to remember this is a healthy discussion, haha.
